The white stork was once a typical breeding bird in the fields and river flood plains of Northern Germany. However, dyke building, wetland drainage and intensive farming have robbed the stork of a large part of its habitat.

For this reason Klaus Oberwelland (†), General Partner and Chairman of AUGUST STORCK KG founded THE STORK FOUNDATION - Störche für unsere Kinder - in 1992.

The purpose of the foundation is to secure the survival of storks for present as well as future generations.
